The popular MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, a major event for movie lovers in the city, will not happen in 2025. This news was shared by the festival’s director, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, on Monday.

Dungarpur posted a message on social media explaining the reason for the break. He said that the team is planning to completely change and refresh the festival. The idea is to come back in 2026 with a new team and a new vision that will take the festival to the next level.

“We are revamping the festival with a dynamic vision and a new team to make sure MAMI continues as a top platform for independent, regional, and classic cinema from India and around the world,” Dungarpur said in his post.

He also thanked the fans for their support and patience, promising to announce the 2026 dates soon.

This announcement has disappointed many in the film world. Filmmaker Tanuja Chandra shared her feelings on social media, saying, “It’s sad that the festival will not be there this year. It’s something many of us look forward to every year. But I send my best wishes to the team and hope they come back stronger.”
